RIP Ursula
RIP Ursula le Guin - pick up one of her books.

We all agree that we need to do better. To train men differently and better. That women need to be empowered and use that power (no, walk away, call police, etc)
Most of this could be boiled down to "use your words" and "dont have drunk sex the first time".
Thought experiment one: We train men and women to use their words.
Him: "will we have sex tonight"
Her: "no" "yes" "maybe"
If he is looking for sex tonight, he would walk away from no and maybe.
(yes, all same people agree, that she can revoke the "yes")
So now, all the trained men, act appropriately. TADA

But we all know from experience (whoops, what about people with no experience?) that when everyone that we date is "crazy" the common thread is ME. For a long time, I date the same time of women. I wanted to save them. To fix them. Yes, they were crazy, but so was I.

Part of what is missing from the training and changing society, is what does Grace do?

Sanctuary
A long, complex discussion about date rate, drunk sex, one night stands, perfection.
Led to a question: How do we improve this?
Which led me down the path ... what have I done?
Long talks with parent friends.
Which led to, WHAT have I done in my life??
My niece called, KNOWING that I would provide sanctuary, not judgement.
I was the first person that she called after having sex for the first time.
Unprotected sex.
Me? Plan B - NOW
(There was my first reaction, which I apologized before having it. Made it short. Moved on and never revisited it.)
A friend was suicidal.
I spent HOURS on the phone.
When all else failed, I gave them two options:
I will come visit and be with them.
Come to chicago and escape.
NO ONE should die alone. Period.
(They lived with me for a time. They made it.)

This is how you remove them:
Get a flash drive and a non-infected computer.
Download RKill.
Download TDSSKiller.
Download ComboFix.
Download Malwarebytes
Put them all on the flash drive.
Start the infected computer in Safe Mode (press F8 as the computer is starting up), use the arrow keys on the keyboard to select Safe Mode With Networking
Plug in the flash drive, go to it and transfer the tools to the desktop.
Run them in order (all in Safe Mode):
RKill
TDSSKiller
ComboFix
MalwareBytes
RKill will kill any malicious processes running, to allow the other tools to do their job.

I got into this meta discussion with a couple of friends, and the fight was over WORDS, not the question.

So far as I can tell, depending on build, where and how Win 10 was installed, or other astronomical events, Windows 10 automatically sets itself up as if in a domain.
That did two things for me, it got rid of the “Some things …” message and ungrayed the box allowing additional options for how updates are delivered. The catch is that you now have to set up a Home Network if you have not already done so.
This does not stop MS’s automatic updates but it does offer some breathing room.

I’m now looking into somewhat civilized ways to better control auto updating and “maintenance”, which basically looks like a script of some sort, rather like bulldozing a forest to cut down one tree.
