one of the AWESOME things about making pizzas ...
the owners were about as italian as possible Perfettis ... LOL
but our managers were POLISH !! (hello, chicago!!)
half the staff were lithuanian, many were mexican/mixes/mutts.
so yah ...
BUT ... chicago has 3-5 STYLES of pizza !!!
thin (which is still thicker than NYC thin)

IQ DIATRIBE
they are 100% accurate at partitioning the population be that test .... like ALL TESTS, they measure what they measure,
Standard IQ tests measure "standard IQ" .... it is not meaningless, but was never meant to be a panacea.
THEY ARE highly correlated with other standardized tests: all the military tests, all the college tests.
they do NOT measure .... anything else.
they dont measure art, music, height, weight, athletic, smell, morals.
They "perfectly" measure what they TEST.
WE CAN INFER ... from them .....
Someone who is 2 sd below 100 are ... not fit to stand trial.
Have trouble making change and interacting with our society.
this isnt good or bad, but a reality.
(mhmmm sure fine, that wolfling kid who was raised by bears wont score well. so what. no test can test EVERYTHING, nor is anything PERFECT)
BUT ....half the population struggles with the CONCEPT of FACTS and LOGIC. Half the population can not determine if something is FALSE. Half the population ... well ... they would be the last person that you would hire.
Back in the 90s, the last time unemployment was so low, it was PAINFUL to go into a fast food place. the cashiers were unable to do basic tasks. this was a problem for ALL companies ... everyone who could COUNT already had a better job. etc .
Precise ... that is the wrong word.
I dont need anything to be precise.
BUT ... we used to give the people who would answer our phones to take pizza orders ... an arithmetic test. Could they add up the bill properly. we would hire the ones that could do better than 50/50 .....and the rest .... shudder

Changing Mythos
Seriously amazing book on ... what we know ... and when ... I wasnt expecting DEEP philosophy, but there it is.
And .... they just depressed the crap out of me.
The US is filled with two different groups, who adhere to two COMPLETELY different myths.
One - Trumpian - demands that the work be more like Hammurabi - CLASSES - rulers, some middle (them), and slaves.
The Other - Nuevo American - where everyone is treated equally - and (like normal countries) there is enough for basic care for everyone.
These views are MUTUALLY EXCLUSIVE. No one has both views.
And there is no method to change peoples' views. You have to destroy their Mythos and the only method that we have for that is war. Destruction.
We had to destroy the south to stop their slave mythos.
We had to destroy nazi germany.
We had to destroy imperial japan.
The Arab Spring tried to destroy one mythos.
But dont pretend that YOUR "RATIONAL" mythos will magically replace theirs.
It NEVER had ... EVER.
Look at the efforts that were required for the "simple" things like:
Women voting
Brown people voting
Brown people getting property loans
Same sex marriage
Legalizing POT
FOOD for children.
School for children.
And dont think for a second that anything has CHANGED.
Trumpians are doing EVERYTHING that they can to undo ALL of these things.
They will not stop until they get everything that they want.
And the only way to stop this is to destroy their mythos. Or overrun it with younger and non-white ....
Strange .... they keep pushing for more restrictive voting rights. Use it or lose it???? WTF?!!!!
So yah ... stop with the facts and logic.
Work on the voter id/registration laws.
Work on getting the unregistered, REGISTERED.
Get them to ALL vote by mail!!!!!
