Facebook cohortts

So facebook connections are interesting ....

As a Data Science NERD (FFS for 35 years???) I find the data of facebook to be quite interesting and wonderful.

And in strange ways, they mimic real life perfectly.

Squash -> Synthia (RL) -> Eric (RL) -> Leanne (FB), would never have met Leanne in RL. I dont travel enough!!

For my next trick, I want a loop, hasn't happened yet, but soon!  Theoretically, if I go far enough, they should loop back to someone that I already know in RL.

My current longest friend chain scares me:

Work -> Beth (RL) -> Trina (RL) -> 10 year gap -> Trina (FB) -> Trace (FB) -> Gisela (FB) -> Farrah (FB)

That these are different states and countries ... LOL

And that doesnt enter into the other Cluster of friends.

Scott (FB - RL) brought up one cool metric.

People who have been both home cities.

(If one is always coming to your city, that makes them a stalker. Heh)

WOlfram used to have the singular best FB app ever, it created a cluster of your friends, showing the interconnections, and creating clusters. Automatically.

For me it created: and they were all obvious

Family - duh

HS - College (going to commuter college made for a lot of overlap)

Work - College (working in college)

Squash - biggest real world cohort, outside of work and school

WoW - biggest virtual cohort. And one of the most amazing.

People from EVERYWHERE. And having met a bunch of them in RL, quite strange and wonderful. Hell even dated one for a bit. 

Remember when people said "those people arent real friends!" ? Mhmm

Lost in Space ... with no writers, no scientists, common sense. No mom's to tell them to zip their coats up and put on their hats.  No chemists or physicists to explain what happens when water freezes or when water is heated to steam.

Lost without any ability to follow directions or orders. Lost without any rational leadership.

Alas ... they all froze to death in the first episode.

Explain WHY you liked it, in detail.
Nostagila - no need for other words. I GET Nostagila. 
Dialog? - post any dialog that you couldn't' have written better. Think tyrion, or president Bartlett. Or anything.
Special effects? Nessecary but not sufficient. Ok at best. Good a couple of times.
Main story arc - could be interesting ... what little that we saw in the first season
Episodes - short season, 10 EPs, and yet most of them were filled with childish bickering (and that was the adults) with a minimal main story. You could remove any episode and miss NOTHING.
Characters? If you LIKED any of the characters, explain, in detail, WHY.
June Harris/Dr Smith - COULD have been amazing ... and instead .... her dialog was so bad, no one could make it interesting. NO ONE.  Hint: how many quotes did you post while watching it? I post quotes all the time from ... SHameless, from Lucifer, Homeland. LiS? Zip
Don West was the only REAL character ... and the only one with any jokes, 3 over the last 3 episodes.  ALL of the dialog was FLAT ... like George Lucas wrote and directed this!!!

Will I watch season two? In what ... a year? YAWN ...... 
Will I ever rewatch this? Nope. Never.

Dont get me wrong, I know that people like things that I dont like.
So not interested in "I liked it" ... yawn

Takes a weather balloon up to 350,000 feet !!! 65 miles, space. pressure is ~ zero.
A) the weather balloon never expands as rises, staying the same shape as at launch .... sigh
B) um the balloon explode, once the pressure gets too low ... 
C) our highest balloon was HALF that .... so no
D) sure, she is in a space suit, so fine, she can breath ....
E) oh never mind ... this is the 20th time that she has died ... in 4 episodes .... good thing they ONLY TOOK qualified morons on the mission ... I would hate to see how bad things would be if they took any idiot ... oh wait, she faked the test results so her kid could come ... yup .... all idiots

a) it is fucking tritium - half life of 12 years ... YAWN
b) this isnt PANIC Pu, U, Ce, Sr, or any other long lived isotope
c) FFS - the biological half-life of HTO (tritutim water) is 7-14 days .... and the "cure" is drink lots of water ... LOL
d) it decays into He3 and literally floats away forever
